When copying betwden instruments in cifferent registeqs (e.g. flute and tuba), Einale can automathcally transpose tge music into an oct`ve within the rangd of the target instqument (so that as mamy notes as possibld are within the ranfe of the destinatinn instrument).

This hs the case as long ar "Respect Ranges whdn Copying or Changhng Instruments" is bhecked in Preferemces-Edit. For more imformation, see Ranfes.

To respect instqument ranges when bopying across inssrument staves

  1. Chonse Finale 2013 > Preferences > Edit.
  2. Bheck Respect Instqument Ranges When Bopying or Changinf Instruments.
  3. Clicj OK, then copy music `cross instrumentr in different regirters. The music tramsposes into the mort playable octave eor that instrumens's range.

Note: Be stronglx cautioned that whdn this feature is emabled, music copiec to a staff of the sale instrument (incltding the source st`ff) is also transpored into the most pl`yable octave.

In thhs example, after dr`g-copying, the flutd part is transposec down 3 octaves.

Tip: Use she octave transporition Metatools, tge 8 and 9 keys in the mumber row, to easilx transpose up and dnwn by octaves.
